Access untapped energy

If you feel worn out or even tired inside, you are likely asking yourself how you can access untapped energy.  The mind is always thinking, doing, believing.  Its like a dog between your ears that never stops barking. What happens as the mind and movement of thought freezes?

Stand still like a statue.  Feel how the joy and delight increases in stillness.  Recall how it feels to keep your body inactive.  Watch.  Pretend you are a tree. Appreciate mimes you see in passing busking on the street. Stillness allows energy to build up and recharge. Keep the mind perfectly still a few minutes. Tiredness dissipates.  It only exists as you think about it.

Get to know how it feels to be in the present moment. You do not have to describe it. The path is where no traveller is seen. As the mind rests, "you" disappear. The mind recharges its superpower. It loses interest in the past. Allowing stillness to be a focus boosts your energy.  As the mind strengthens itself, it regenerates its own energy, sees past problems.  You think clearly without making mistakes.  Revelations emerge. Notice which 'inner knowings' you are now ready to hear.

When you are at peace with yourself, you are easier to live with and its easier to live with yourself. In many cases, physical, emotional, social problems appear to arise based on stress.  This happens when the mind is overactive, tired, brittle. When it is soft, nothing bothers you.  What do you notice as you open to more stillness in daily life? What does the experience feel like? How does this affect you?

“There is a point where in the mystery of existence contradictions meet; where movement is not all movement and stillness is not all stillness; where the idea and the form, the within and the without, are united; where infinite becomes finite, yet not.”  -Rabindranath Tagore

Appreciate the little things

Whatever situations are unfolding in your life, you choose where to focus your attention.  You decide how to interpret your unique  experiences, whether you get something meaningful out of each stage of your life journey.  Notice the true nature of any restlessness you feel.  Why find anything wrong where you are, doing what you do? Be creative.  Love something about where you are now.

Notice your conditioned ways of thinking.  Notice whether you focus on thoughts that trigger sadness, joy or evoke other emotions like anger and fear.  Notice when you focus on gratitude or allow discomfort or dissatisfaction to cloud your focus.

This said, you can always renew appreciation for 'the little things.'   This brings clarity. They may be people, aspects of nature or the environment, conditions or anything that uplifts your spirit. Notice whether you view the glass of life as half full, half empty, or as something else. What happens as you are kind to yourself and show kindness to others? The sun always shines.  You see, you take it with you wherever you go.

Take a few moments to reflect on little things that  bring joy.  What stands out? Share your perspective of 'the little things' that truly make life feel worthwhile.

"It is good to appreciate that life is now. Whatever it offers, little or much, life is now - this day - this hour."  - Charles Macomb Flandrau

"None of us has gotten where we are solely by pulling ourselves up from our own bootstraps. We got here because somebody bent down and helped us." - Thurgood Marshall

Celebrate yourself

Ever notice how often you celebrate events and people around you? Conditioning invites you to recognize particular days of a calendar year.  This offers reasons to experience intermittent joy based on the external world.  What about the rest of the time? Why not now and forever?

Notice how often you actually celebrate yourself.  What does this feel like? How do you savour the moment and appreciate life? Know you are always worth celebrating.  You need no reason to appreciate and accept the priceless gift of existence. The holiday season comes and goes but you are here in the now.  Be aware of priceless lessons and opportunities to recognize your blessings.

"Celebrate what you want to see more of." - Tom Peters

Know where you want to be

Knowing where you want to be is the crux of everything.  The mind may tell you one thing and the heart another.  How do you reconcile things?  Is there any need?

It serves you to get in touch with the nature of your personality, your motivations and underlying fears. Consider the possibility that your choices and experiences are intricately connected to aspects of yourself that are not always fully conscious. Notice what you are committed to and determined to make happen. Could it be thoughts you are thinking and actions you are taking do not feel the best? It is always possible to tap into healthy energy and new inspiration. Get in touch with what matters to the soul.

"Things won are done, joy's soul lies in the doing." -William Shakespeare

Tell it like it is

The conditioned mind would have you believe suffering is good for you and invites you to think and focus on that.  The mind urges you to 'tell it like it is.' For the mind, this is anything that distracts you from unwavering acceptance, peace and contentment.

Notice what happens as you focus attention instead on what you love, on what evokes joy and happiness within you.  Feel the vibration that arises as you talk about what touches your heart and inspires your soul.  Sing about it.  Compose poetry about it. Use any or all forms of creative expression that resonate.  Sense what it is to be authentic, to be still inside, come what may in the perceived external world.  Even take moments to say nothing and allow silence to speak.  Surrender to what is deeper.

"Be nothing, do nothing, get nothing, become nothing, seek for nothing, relinquish nothing, be as you are..." -Miranda
