Notice communing with trees is about allowing ourselves to rise and vibrate higher, to expand insight into nature's classroom, to exercise imagination and creative abilities, to engage more deeply with life and recall peace exists within us. Whether spontaneously hugging a tree trunk, climbing out on a limb to build confidence, feeling inspired to observe and draw what is unfolding around us, initiating a game of hide and seek, we fine tune our intuition by relying on it. Trees are a metaphor that remind us to stretch and grow toward the Sun and beyond, to have fun blossoming into more of ourselves. As we see more universal lessons in unfolding events, we tune into existing harmony. Not only are you more receptive to beneficial energies, you are more vulnerable to vibrations which may deplete your life force and/or create emotional and physical stress. Feeling the trunk of a tree reminds us of our own thick skin. We can explore how to use our body as a protective boundary and how to clear your system if you’ve been negatively affected by outside influences. Preserving your sovereignty in this way is a wonderful way to care and respect for your dear self.
Everything is a teacher. It need not be a human. It could be animal, vegetable, mineral or anything. Note that as long as you identify something as separate from you, you reach outside yourself for answers. You do not fully trust yourself as your own authority. Watch what happens as you view everything as a pointer or guide to the universal message conveyed in all situations. What is felt?
All experience is an invitation to see beyond the mind that identifies an apparent teacher. Recognize what is beyond the perception of 'personal', 'other' or difference. The soul is pure unconditional love and acceptance. It has no filters to distinguish between 'you' and 'them'. It only sees oneness.
Take the example of a mind's perception of dogs. A human can watch a small dog approach a big dog and bark like crazy. The big dog barks too. The human imagines a scenario; one dog is standing up for itself, defending territory or competing with another dog. Humans imagine confrontation.
From the vantage point of soul, dogs are an energy form that does not recognize difference in size, competition or fear as human minds do. Dogs recognize likeness and universal language unless conditioned. They recognize unique scents and see oneness. They echo love is its own best friend.
Many experiences are universal yet, must be discovered and rediscovered by each of us at our own pace. We allow wisdom to reveal itself through us when we are ready and willing to accept it. We each weave our own tapestry of life by making choices. How to maintain a happy mind?
1) Break free of the traps of the mind: Let go of the past, stop focusing attention on fear and the future. This releases you from ties binding you to karma/ family histories (recover the 'original self'). As identities are seen as the masks they are and shed, personal histories shrink and fade.
2) Be aware of and let go of attachment to inner possessions; judgments, thoughts, values, and ideas about right and wrong. Notice everyone is a teacher pointing to existing contentment.
3) Break free of the traps of the body/ impermanent world. Thinking about doing anything is the hard part. Notice how the mind stalls and postpones things. Taking action itself is easy.
4) Explore the true nature of freedom & what it means to be 'liberated in life.' Notice you deny the ultimate freedom. You only step beyond parameters after you create them and grow aware.
5) Bring together the elements of a fragmented existence. Each person who is open and receptive grows aware of an inner pilgrimmage and unique experiences with Spirit.
6) Be here in this present moment in mindfulness and kindness.
"Renounce the self that does the renunciation." -Swami Venkatesananda
Whatever experience is your focus of the moment, you can discern a universal message. Notice that as you take the personal context out of what you see, you begin to sense the bigger picture. You are not what you think. You are remembering as you feel your way to every answer. Some people use a process of elimination to reach the crux. Other people simply stop thinking, doing, resisting and shift focus to being.
