What is Kundalini Awakening?

Many people will ask what is Kundalini Awakening? Kundalini is a sort of cosmic feminine energy said to rest at the base of the spine, the location of the Muladhara or root chakra. It’s also called “Kundalini Shakti” when in its dormant state.  At different life stages, it can awaken and shake up our lives and may also be misunderstood.

If your kundalini is awakened, you will experience herightening emotions and potentially miraculous events that you would not imagine before. On kundalini awakening, your greater divine intelligence is aroused from a dormant state and you become able to give birth to a new range of creativity. Your body and everything respond in a completely different way as a new energy is unleashed.

This awakening leads to the energy rising through the chakras, or energy centers, up to the crown of the head, resulting in profound spiritual, emotional, and physical transformations.  On kundalini awakening, a surge of spiritual energy enters into the sushumna nadi and moves from the base of the spine up through the energy centres (chakras) towards the top of the head—the crown chakra. Kundalini awakening causes experiencer to transform on the mental, emotional, and spiritual levels.Kundalini Yoga is one ancient practice that can help you harness this powerful energy.  Still, yoga means union and varied yoga traditions and practices can bring one into unity and also activate kundalini. It is wise to have a guide during your journey so you do not integrate too much energy too fast.  Yoga practices exist to help “uncoil the serpent”,  reconnect us to our divine essence.

In Sanskrit language, Kundalini means “coiled snake”. is the metaphor for the name of a sleeping dormant potential energy in the human body, situated at the root of the spinal column.  All humans have this spiritual energy . When it’s still, it is in a dormant state. Only when it moves will you know how powerful the energy is.

Go beyond mind-control

Notice what happens as it dawns that Being itself is guiding each action. Meditation in its true sense can be a way of spontaneously discovering our natural, undivided state. We cannot get to a natural state through divided means. We cannot create natural, effortless states. We can only create unnatural states. As we fall into the state where we cease to manipulate our experience in any way, this is true meditation. Anything else is mind-controlled. Through mind-control, we can create extra-ordinary and mystical states, but not the natural state. Let everything be as it is. This is simple and yet, how often do you attempt to stop the mind, seek be peaceful, or something other than what is? Anyway you manipulate experience, simply notice it and let it go. This gives mind very little to do. The mind is no longer leading the way. It falls into background. The natural, free state only reveals itself through non-doing. It takes some consciousness to notice when we manipulate inner experience. The natural state is ever-present. Its already quiet. There is no reason to get to peace. No search is needed. States we seek through meditation are here. Most meditation is manipulation. This points to distrust of original nature. No need to battle ego. It is a conditioned part of ourselves. Distrust of ego can escalate to distrusting the essence of Being. Its why we seek to control. Letting go of our conditioned urge to manipulate inner experience guides one to natural awareness.

Precipitate a revelation

Notice each of us is a version of the universe experiencing itself. Fear nothing. Watch events unfold. A common regret before life transitions is the view: “I wasn’t true to myself.” At the supposed end of one’s life, the key is relationship to oneself (how well does one know self and live in harmony with this knowing?) In yoga, this is essence of the human condition. We are all on a journey to find ourselves, our true nature or "inner" self. Whole universe is an expression of consciousness. Your own consciousness ( sense of being) is part of infinite consciousness of the universe, just as a wave is part of the ocean. In fact, just like the wave, we are not only part of, but also One with the infinite. Not everyone realizes this. We are taught our existence is limited so we experience a limited reality. Yet, we have an inner longing for limitlessness. We want unlimited happiness. In Truth, we want bliss (infinite joy) within, to awaken to our essence. That’s why we’re seeking. That’s why we’ll only be content when we find ourselves. So if we can expand our sense of existence from ego consciousness to infinite consciousness; from our small sense of self to the greater Cosmic Self like a river merges in the ocean waves, then we will experience this bliss we long for.

Live the answers

Questions arise inside.  Be patient with all that is uncertain.  Everything that arises in your scope is not real.  Ego is the idea that you are separate.  The moment you recognize your essence knows what you need and you surrender to it, you discover the essence of what it feels like to live the answers.  Essence is a peal of wisom.  Notice it is a boundless and measureless sea of tranquility nestled in the heart.

Allow simplicity to speak

The essence of being is unlimited energy. The human is the part of being conditioned to focus on limitations and seek that which cannot be found.  That which is aware through the human part is always here, yet the human mind has you believing what you want most is outside of you.  Notice what happens as you consciously love and appreciate yourself in thought, feeling, all expression.  You feel more alive.  You accept all perceptions and recognize each one invites you to embrace simplicity.  Allow the truth to reveal itself.  Everything you do and do not points toward that which you are.  Notice what is irrelevant falls away as you shift attention away.  Nothing remains.
