What are you right now?

The human part of you plans and questions. It constructs belief systems and perceptions grounded in the past and future and invites you to focus there. The mind prompts you to act, to do and become. How can you let go of who you think you are?

Being is perfectly content. It has no plans. It does no judge. It has no ambitions or judgments. It does not seek to understand. The feeling of joyful knowing arises naturally.  It is the recognition nothing can control you and you control nothing.  You have all control without controlling everything.  It exists in the present moment.

What happens as you awaken as a 'human- being?' You shift focus of attention and see everything from expanding vantage points.  You revert to innocence and no longer exert effort to be untrue to what is. You no longer believe but know. A connection to wholeness never leaves you.  The love, freedom, presence is all right here.  What are you right now?

"I discovered that I am tired of being a person. Not just tired of being the person I was, but any person at all"  -Susan Sontag

Revert to nothing

Whatever you feel the creator is, it is forever speaking through you. What is essential is never forgotten. The force is in you and it is you.  Love created you in its natural image.

You choose to be controlled by ego and the fear it evokes or, listen to soul. This voice of truth replaces everything the ego echoes.  Your role as you dream in this body is not to change others in the pursuit of happiness, but to revert to nothing. That is, be willing to systematically let go of everything you think is you. Get out of the way. Be empty. Do nothing. Allow presence to make itself known.  Embody the unconditional love that is.  Notice what you are willing to relinquish. Notice what is already gone.  What remains?

"We are here to awaken from the illusion of our separateness."  -Thich Nhat Hanh

I am you and you are me

Dreaming unfolds on infinite levels. You create a sense of timelines and other points of reference to ground events and reinforce a mental identity.  Notice what happens as you begin to sense everything is a reflection of the one being that is. Notice how you feel about anything is actually a projection of how you feel about yourself. Notice the empowering energy boost as you love others as you would like to be loved.

Awareness is present on every perceived timeline and where time does not exist.  It knows I am you and you are me. If you write a letter to leave for your next incarnation, what would you say? Story Waters describes The Meaning of Life in 700 words.

"Since everything is but an apparition, having nothing to do with good or bad, acceptance or rejection, one may well burst out in laughter." -Longchenpa

Why the story loses its appeal

At some stage, the story and details you share to describe who you are no longer resonate. The drama, entertainment value and emotional triggers lose their appeal. You do nothing and watch elements of the identity you construct fall away of their own accord. The urge to offer credentials or opinions fades.  Listening replaces talking.

In essence, you systematically see through layers of your self-created illusions.  You recognize reasons for attachment and detachment, and outgrow certain ways of experiencing the world. You begin to realize it is part of life to feel and let go of all perceptions, not only those that evoke negativity, but also those that trigger positive and uplifing feelings.  Perceptions of lows and highs are all transitions guiding you home. What is natural unfolds through it all.  The mind has selective awareness.  The heart always knows what is meaningful.  As heart and mind are seen as one, be that.

"Renunciation is not getting rid of the things of this world, but accepting that they pass away." -Aitken Roshi

Reality according to whom?

The experiences you engage in are constructing an ever-changing sense of reality, but reality according to whom?  Ever step back and ask how you got where you are or, ask why you feel as you do? What grabs your attention? It all beckons you to expand vision.

Consider you live based on your perception of reality. The mind tells you its versions of reality grounded in time and space and advises you how to thrive. You also adopt ideas about what people tell you is their reality, heed their advice about how to achieve success, better yourself, or do what you think necessary to feel satisfied or get ahead. You may struggle to clarify a sense of reality that truly matters and has staying power.

As the mind subsides, what is real touches the soul.  Here, you have nothing to learn, and nothing to know. Nothing anyone tells you factors into this.  Its not a version of reality but the way things are.  What the heart knows intuitively prompts you to let go of the unreal, to surrender and accept what you already know when you stop thinking, defining and resisting.  This reality is not what you want it to be.  It is not your story. It reveals itself from the moment you get out of the way.  Allow the unaltered state to be.  It is forever silent and present amidst all the experiences that hijack your attention.

"Reality leaves a lot to the imagination." -John Lennon
