Make the best of where you are

How many times have you gone somewhere and had baggage lost or learned what life is like when items disappear? Many people can relate to this.  The initial reaction is often frustration, disbelief or anger.  Yet, wait a second. Does it matter?

This topic is relevant because I recently embarked on my honeymoon  and my bag did not initially arrive with me.  I was moving around a lot and discovered that to travel light is to be unburdened.  The next time you travel and feel an urge to get upset when things do not go the way you think they should go, remind yourself why you are better off.

Imagine what it would be like to be a bedoin or someone who travels regularly with all they own.  This is not a suitcase or a caravan.  Rather, it is often what can be carried on your back.  What if you wore the same shoes every day, the same clothes.  This would not change who you are.  In fact, it may remind you that your identity has nothing to do with what you have or what you wear.  Instead, it relates to how you feel inside.

Happiness is a state of being.  Travel is a teacher.  It brings to your attention what is necessary and extraneous in your life. How often have you made a mountain out of a mowhill? Each moment offers an opportunity to shift your thinking. What is really important? It isn't where you are, it is how you feel about yourself , what you are doing and who you are with.  You could always be doing something else, but you are not.  You are meant to have the experiences of this moment.

When you call, they listen

Have you ever been in  situation where you called out for assistance from powers beyond yourself? What kind of evidence have you experienced that confirms they listen?

You may have prayed for rain during dry seasons.  Then, the rains eventually fall.  You may wish for sun amidst the fog.  Then, ithe sun shines.  To what or whom do you attribute this miracle?

You may be idle on a sailing vessel with no wind and ask the angels for a gust.  What do you think when the winds begin to blow as if from nowhere to suddenly your boat along?

You may feel compelled to rethink what is "sudden" or "unexpected" is anything but what you initially assumed.  Whatever you need, you already have.  Something simply reminds you to have faith and what you truly need appears. Who is to say it is not always there?

Create meaningful moments

Wherever you are, whatever you do, you have the power to create meaningful moments.  You choose to view everything that happens as positive or negative, or somehow part of your overall growth. Why  you se yourself as you do is for a purpose.

Everyone is on their own learning curve.  You are aware of certain things about yourself and the world, yet oblivious to others.  As you remind yourself that you are selectively ignorant, because of your own desire to learn, then life becomes a completely different experience.

Feels have meaning other than those you immediately assume.  Thoughts have underlying meaning.  People you interact with are sending you messages.  What will you choose to get out of this meaningful moment? How is your mindset already transforming your life?

How are weddings themselves teachers

Weddings are experiences that enable you to explore new levels of personal and intimate relationships. If you have ever been involved in planning phases of your wedding or, anyone's wedding, you learn about family, friends, prospective family and their views. You may feel overwhelmed with options, or sense exactly what works for you right now.

Many people will grow up dreaming of what they imagine would be their own perfect wedding.  The venue, the guests and all the trimmings may be part of it, or, very little in terms of planning if you choose to elope or avoid too many details.  What is your dream?

I would love to hear your stories about your own wedding, experience wedding planning or, participating in memorable nuptials.  This week, I am in the process of finalizing my own wedding.  Instincts led me to plan a simple wedding sail on a tall ship along the coast of Nova Scotia, Canada.  How this evolved and why will be topics of another post.

How do you discern levels of awareness?

As you become more attuned to yourself, you notice when you are hungry, tired and when awareness is lucid or not.  Most everyone has experienced what it is like to feel overly-tired or 'less than optimum.' What does this do to your level of awareness?

Mindfulness and consciousness are different states of mind. You take in everything around you, selectively digest what information you consciously desire at a given moment, or remain oblivious to most of the activity around you.  You could fit into any category none.  As you exist in your own world, your awareness is what you make it. 

It may surprise you to know that to focus on the visible and physical is only a part of wider awareness. What kinds of experiences would you share about lucidity or less-than optimum awareness? Did this positively affect you? How have your choices changed you? 

Some people tune out to some aspects of their lives only to suddenly tune into aspects they had been unaware of before.  Much depends on your mental discipline and level of focus on color spectra and energy frequencies. For some people, feeling awareness becomes more pronounced than any other kind.  What about you? How are your senses?
