Generation Z & quality of life

Generation Z describes people who grow up connected to the internet and communication technologies.  They have little or no concept of life before digital media and globalization.  You might wonder if they are techno-dependent.  What would you do without your own gadgets?

On the one hand, using technology is proven to simply your life and to facilitate communication in ways  not even imagined previously. Email, fax, SMS, MP3 players, internet chats, video or satellite mobile phones, and iphones are examples.  You hear people rave about convenience, educational apps and strategies to save time. More cutting edge inventions just keep coming.

On the other hand, what about people sitting across the table engaged in using technology rather than each other? One result is young people communicate more using intermediaries such as friends or parents to work out their conflicts.  Boyfriends and girlfriends break up with an SMS or email rather than face an in-person confrontation.  You may notice how techno connections already replace or redefine human interactions. Not everyone is convinced this is a good thing.

An interesting development with Generation Z is the growing focus on homeschooling.  Here, the rapid expansion and growing access to technology is nurturing self-directedness.  People are realizing they can help others and themselves at the same time.  Maybe you notice that using technology does not have to make you feel separate and alone. Something echoes all is well.

Rest assured, no matter how much technology exists in your midst, you can always adapt.  You may notice a budding entrepreneurial spirit inside and realize you learn what you require as you go.   Notice the nature of your environment and how you respond to perceived change. What does the mind tell you about resourcefulness and versatility? What is your quality of life? Everything you notice is a pointer to what you are not yet seeing.  Get ready to feel what matters.

"Be a yardstick of quality. Some people aren't used to an environment where excellence is expected." - Steve Jobs

Which messages stand out?

Anytime you are drawn to an individual, you are inviting yourself to learn certain things and unlearn others from this person about yourself.  Which messages stand out ? Who is your inspirational mentor of the moment?  What are they beckoning you to notice or realize that you had not been aware of before?  Every stage of awareness is revealing timeless, inner wisdom.

"I think kids [and everyone, really] should have a mentor and a role model, but that they shouldn't take one person's opinion to be what we call final assessment or judgment about how life is supposed to be."-  Sean Paul

Invest something new in yourself

Watch what happens as you invest something new in yourself.  You grow more conscious and focused.  You feel energized, self-directed, and also guided by feelings you may not have noticed before.  Such sensations can arise as you attend a seminar or take steps to be true to yourself.

Perhaps you nurture a dream to join the Australian Masters or wish to remain high in the ranks.  Allow dreams to bring out the best in you.  Amateur or professional sports are teachers just like all other experience.  You gain out of life in proportion to what you put into self-growth.

The power of intention is not something you buy.  Yet, its value is measured by the joy you feel at any given moment, related to particular life choices. You know what feels right in the heart.  Do you use and heed this inner guidance to determine how you spend your time or, where to shift your attention?

Watch what happens as you choose to be more receptive to perceived opportunities and how you can run with them.  Everything in your world is always inviting you to help yourself and to serve others.   Now is the moment for clarity.  Notice how you feel about your apparent prioirities.  Read your vibes.

"Once in a while, you have to take a break and visit yourself." -Audrey Giorgi

Be open to available lessons

Every moment, perceptions and experiences invite each of us to recognize available lessons.  Notice what stands out for you.  Be aware thoughts, emotions and beliefs interpret circumstances. Observe how emotions shape your experience. At any given moment, you are open and closed to certain ways of being, seeing and experiencing who and what you are. Three questions to ask and answer are:

1) What are you allowing and resisting?
2) What do you love and what do you fear?
3) What are you seeing and not picking up with physical senses?

"Experience is not what happens to a man; it is what a man does with what happens to him."
-Aldous Huxley

Opportunities are knocking

At any given moment, infinite oportunities exist.  There are those you consciously notice and those you do not.  That which you are ready for suddenly takes centre stage in your life.  Ever notice how and when your conscious focus is shifting? What is your priority right now? Be aware of a variety of influences on your beliefs. Every 'ah-ha' moment is a teacher, an opportunity for shifts of attention, a gentle reminder all is always well from a vantage point always within reach.  Notice what happens as feelings of being centered now appear.

"The ego is nothing other than the focus of conscious attention." - Alan Watts
