Dannion Brinkley & 3 tips to dispel your fear of life & death

On two occasions, Dannion Brinkley died after being struck by lightening.  He returned to this world to encourage us to face our own mortality.  We tend to be our harshest critics and the source of our greatest fears.  It is up to each of us to redefine a meaningful life.

Dannion's near-death experiences (NDEs) prompted him to review his priorities and focus.  Trial and error led him to apply his heightened sensitivities.  He developed techniques to bond wth people and open their minds to his experience of  life and death.  He finds if people don't learn to recapture their spirits, they struggle to cope with the future.   In his way, he urges us to discern we have choices about how we think:

1)  Realize you don't know nearly as much as you think you do.  Move beyond a theoretical understanding.  What you have been taught on life and death  and  about 'worthwhile' choices, is often grounded in values and principles imposed by individuals and institutions.  Have you learned to separate your beliefs from external influence? How do you distinguish among reasons for fears and your ability to be spiritually perceptive?

2)  Grasp you need not wait until you have passed over to do a 'life review.' An overview of your life involves reflection about your hopes and dreams, what you feel is 'good' and 'bad.'  You can do this anytime.  To glimpse your spiritual nature enables you to overcome fear.  Choose to develop strength.  Everything is actually valuable experience.

3) Focus on how you make life better.  Evolve to treat others as you would have them treat you.  This is part of your learning process.  You can feel the way you make others feel when you help them.  You can rebuild or reframe the time you have.  How you react to people and conditions influences how your life unfolds.  Consider your self-view.  On what level do you empathize with others?  Its never too late to create peace within.

Create positive coincidences

To learn to step back and view your life from a third person perspective is to see parts of yourself in every encounter and relationship.  Why would you wish to do do this?

Part of your life mission is to learn to review aspects of your life without having your ego involved.  Such a conscious move toward greater objectivity will enable you to experience increased empathy.  It will also empower you to make a more honest assessment of where you are, how you view yourself, and where you wish to be.

What would it take for you to come to grips with the idea your mind shapes the reality you choose outside yourself? When have you sensed your thoughts and beliefs determine where you are?  Imagine the nature of your positive transformation as you realize you have the power to make significant changes in how you behave and what you value.

Events are in a process of unfolding.  Nothing is unconnected.  Many things are within your control.  From the moment you realize you can get excited about sources of meaning in your life, you are already redefining your own version of success.   You exist by choice.  Your decisions to perceive, interpret and learn are part of your mission.

Discern love as the ultimate goal

Many people go through phases where they change their minds about goals.  Maybe you outgrow some of your previous plans.  Maybe an invisible light bulb goes off in your head.  Whatever the reason, you feel diverted to a more suitable direction and ease into it.

You may reflect on what has happened in your life and instinctively choose to take the world by surprise.  You may slowly work to change a low opinion of yourself.  In your own way, you are already sparking your own chain reaction.  You may ask yourself whether you're ready.  You need only reconnect with your authentic self to be true to your goals.

No matter how you appear or portray yourself on the surface, on the inside, you always sense the truth.  If your harbour thoughts or perpetuate behavior that deviates from pure love, then you experience discomfort.  Your feelings and sensations are clues about whether you approach or distance yourself from what feels right.  Did you forget again?

Huge numbers of people echo negative thoughts and feelings in their heads.  You may feel guilty, inferior, discouraged, defeated, afraid.  Each negative thought you create and buy into pushes you further away from reconnecting with your spiritual core.  To pick yourself apart on the surface is to ignore the powerful spiritual being you are.

As you learn to step back, you gradually see that you are not trapped in a reality controlled and exploited by other people.  This is just an imaginative merry-go-round.  You can get off any time you choose.  The more stress you feel under, the more apt you are to perpetuate a false sense of inadequacy, or to find outlets for grief and judgment.

Reassure yourself.  You discern precisely what exists, but you have been conditioned to deny it.  Love is the ultimate goal.  It surpasses any temporary feeling, acquisition, relationship or apparent possession.  Anything you think you understand is only a phase in a process.  Self-centredness is dissolving as you deepen your spiritual awakening.  Interactions set patterns.  As you gain insight into different points of view, you realize you have more than one purpose.  They evolve with you.  Discern love is what you are.

To act on inner knowing or not?

You may not realize it, but what you will learn is far less important than why you are choosing not to act on what you have already learned thus far.  That's right.  Stop denying all those things that make sense.  Stop disregarding what you want. Cut it out!

Every moment of every day, you are discovering new things about your soul, how you have conditioned yourself to function and why.  Yet, you are not necessarily applying this knowledge.  You are not necessarily changing your thoughts and habits and patterns.  What is stopping you? More to the point, who is stopping you?

You are more than your body, more than your brain, more than the limits you have evolved to place on yourself.  Imagine how life would evolve as you choose to dissolve the parameters you have placed on how you think.   You already know the answer.  Why not go there?  Why hold yourself back?  Why hesitate from accepting and embracing the unthinkable? Because you can? Or, is your ego in charge?

The only struggles you experience are those you create.  We each have the creative power of the universe that works with us to reinforce what we already believe is real.  A true teacher teaches precisely what he discerns he must learn.   Work at your own pace.

Be where you are and rediscover your heart

Analysis of the week on dream submitted by A.E. of Maryland, U.S.A.

Dream : We have tickets to see The Hip show in Toronto. Since we are in town, it seems a cool thing to do. My husband goes to the theatre with someone. I need to drive my Nana's car somewhere and will meet them. I get lost, but finally manage to get there, leave the car and head to the theatre. I am delayed by a series of bizarre events, notably, being trapped on the roof of a skyscraper by armed gunmen. I don't recall how I escaped, but I did, and ran to the theatre. I get there and get up to first row balcony. My husband is waiting with other people. There has been no opening act, just a video montage of The Hip career. I have not missed the live show. Just as I arrive at my seat, the group appears to take the stage.  They decide to walk past the first row of the balcony and then down the stairs through the crowd to get to the stage. The lead singer sees me. I think how awfuI I must look, yet he comes to take me in his arms and kisses me.

Predominant Emotions : self-consciousness,  inadequacy, disbelief, relief, surrender.

Interpretation : Human beings traditionally think wholeness is like unattainable perfection. Wholeness simply has roots in humility. It reminds you of the role of balance and the different choices you can make in your life to re-establish this. As you are in the process of learning more about yourself, every choice you make is liberating. Ask yourself about the choices you make and the directions in which you’re moving in your life.  Are you moving toward greater well-being or, further away from who you really are? The nature of emotions you generate and to what degree they guide you, are a helpful gauge.

This dream invites you to change the way you see yourself. Rather than fragment or separate different aspects of your personality, rather than decide what you would like to keep, and what qualities you will fight against or repress, you are invited to embrace and accept them all.  Live beyond appearances and expectations.  As you change your thoughts, you realize your mind creates the world in which you live.  You're in the process of uncluttering views. Focus on where you are rather than where you're not.

Yielding to your positive and negative energy will help you to understand different parts of yourself and how they contribute to your completeness. As you identify reasons for experiencing feelings such as fear, anger, excitement, relief and passion, you will evolve to stop focusing on comparisons.   It is an inner need to separate into opposites that prevents you from focusing on the love that is within and surrounding you always.

The more you ignore or deny what you know inside, the more it will corner you.  It may take the form of a monster in a dream, but it is really just a piece of yourself that has been rejected.  Your mind can twist and contort ideas based on your assumptions about what you should be doing or thinking.  Yet, in your heart, you already know what is right.
