Discern between white and black magic

Movie and book sales attest to how human beings are increasingly drawn to the mystery and power of magic.  On a more practical side, on this earth plane, you may ask how you discern between white and black magic.  In fact, you are already thinking about how you  use the magic of your choice, casting spells or charms in your life and dreams now.

Black magic is grounded in fear, the misuse of language and misdirected intent.  People who practice this do not know what they do.  They do not know themselves.  They are unaware of the impact of their words, deeds or, how their thoughts and emotions harm others.  In darkness, black magicians are blinded by their views or beliefs.  They choose to perpetuate their ignorance and suffering, to shelter themselves from love, forgiveness and understanding.  They have not learned transcendence or  the intensity of inner energy.  Everything they do is a measure of what they fear and refuse to see. Truth has the power to break spells of black magic.  Truth is grasped through a chain of awareness.

White magic is love, linked to the power of creation and positive intent.  It precipitates uplifting feelings in the conjurer, the thinker and talker who harnesses the power of words to enrich life experience.  White magicians know they are made of light energy and how everything that exists is a messenger of light. This light is the teacher that shows everything is light perceiving light.  White magicians perceive and understand the truth in everything and everyone, regardless of what other people choose to see or ignore.

If you assumed you would have the choice between a white book and a black book, well, there is far more to this than you would find in any book. Its not about a book, but rather, life experience, fables of smoking mirrors and what you decide to perceive. No matter how many elixers you mix up, how many chants you recite, whether you follow solar or lunar calendars or another sense of time and space, magic begins as a state of mind. You dream of justice or injustice.  You create magic in your world based on a sense of unconditional love or inexplicable fear.  Control your dream. This is meaningful magic.

Hi Liara,
Very interesting subject matter that few know about. It is interesting how the color black is portrayed in society, i.e., blackballed, blacklisted, blackmailed, blackbeard. In westerns the character who wore a black hat was usually the villain. Even in internet terms, blackhat, whitehat and redhat have varying degrees of meanings.

Even in screenwriting terms, at the end of a script there is a section where we write FADE TO BLACK, which some can interpret as the characters fading into their own obscurity.

Yet when we say that something is "in the black," it means that it is good.
I agree that black magic is grounded in fear, mystery and cloudiness.

Whether it's black or white, we are all reaching for the light in our Soul. Life conjures up it's own meaningful magic. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece. Thanks!

Yes that's right ~ "You create magic in your world based on a sense of unconditional love or inexplicable fear. Control your dream. This is meaningful magic."

I don't use the division of "White" or "Black" magic because it polarizes the two states into extreme opposites. It can be that a spell (or prayer) has arisen from a good intention and can do much good - on the downside however, as in the blend of good and destruction produced by Christian Missionaries, if the spell is not thought through and if the practitioner is less than wise - damage will occur.

I think that Jesus, if hopefully he existed, must have been the most powerful magician - the effects are seen today and continue as the biggest spell ever.

Alexys, you raise some pivotal associations that have come to act as signposts in popular culture. People have unconscious associations of what is desirable or undesirable, based on color. "Black" as a prefix is generally regarded as undesirable. Yet, how often do you ask the origin of your opinion? Some people beleive this color is 'elegant' or 'cheap.' Others associate it with evil. Follow the threads of your belifs to shatter your own myths and uncover fear.

All assumptions are grounded in fear and judgment that is often disregarded or consciously overlooked.

Henry, your remarks remind readers that everyone is a kind of magician. Human beings often associate power with admired images or myths but they forget that each person casts a spell with every word uttered and every thought devised. People underestimate their own power out of ignorance and disbelief in reality. In fact, it is common for human perception to create a world other than what really exists. This is not divine magic, so much as denial of self-conceived magic. People spend lifetimes redefining soul magic.

Hi Liara

To a degree I don't believe in black or white magic, but rather that the practitioner is either black or white, meaning their intentions are either black or white. Black magic for one person might be white magic for the other, it's all about the intention of the magic being cast.

Therefore, a lot of research and understanding must go into casting a spell or doing any kind of magic on a conscious level. If you are not sure about the outcome,or the outcome might not be what you want it to be, don't do it, unless you are willing to live with the result.

Phoenix, you make a significant point about magic evolving based on the intent of the conjuror. The complexity of conscious and unconscious thoughts adds to the possible outcomes. The idea of 'do no harm' also means different things to different people. If you believe you have honorable intent, the focus of your thoughts may not be on the same plane or wavelength. Humans often remain unaware why or how they engage in magic.
