Why reserve time for yourself?

People speak of projects, commitments, responsibilities and attachments to what is going on in the world around them.  You exert energy for your work, for your family, for people you know and strangers.  Yet, how often do you sincerely reserve time for yourself?

In order to enrich your life,  it is necessary to be aware of what you are doing and whether you feel  balance inside.  That is, are your efforts reciprocated? Is there a sense of give and take in the relationships and endeavours that define your life? Or, do you feel drained physically, emotionally or otherwise? Each feeling sends you a valuable message.

As you choose to reserve some time for yourself, you can learn to listen to what goes on inside.  This differs from what people around you say and what noises are distracting you.  Taking time for you simply means doing things that enable you to feel good.  You learn to slow down and just be.  Some people believe this is easier said than done.

I agree, we must make time for ourselves. It is not as hard as one may think. I block out an hour in outlook express everyday for lunch. This hour is sacred to me. It gives me time to get out of the office and rejuvenate. Another good time is in the evening as you lie in bed or in the morning after the alarm goes off.

True words, sometimes we keep busy to distract ourselves from what we do not want to look at in ourselves.Slowing down is too painful, some people rather live with the stress.

Mark, you remind readers that nothing is difficult unless you decide it is. As each human being chooses his or her priorities, then each person can also change plans. Its as easy and appropriate as you decide. How many people make a mountain out of a mowhill?

Miruh, people imagine stress just like they imagine fear. Not everyone is ready to admit the truth is something other than what thye believe they know or expeirence. Breaking down illusions is like breaking the chains that bind your mind. Unleash your imagination. Each human being is at a stage of awareness that he can accept. You evolve at will.

this is an area I feel comfortable with....and I get more done in my working life as a consequence.

Henry, people use time in ways they grasp in in ways that escape them. It is valuable to raise your own awareness about the reasons why you make certain choices. No matter who much you already know, you could always attune differently, expand your senses and learn differently. This is not abou quantity but about sharpening your discernment.
