Why are you pretending?
Human beings readily pretend to be something they are not. They are also unaware of what thye do. How many times have you given into whatever a group of friends was doing? When was the last time you put up a front to get a particular job, to get into a club, to be accepted or approved? Why do you choose clothes that do not fit, situations that do not suit you? An endless drama of events can be changed with consciousness.
You have the need to be loved and accepted by others, but this remains out of reach so long as you do not learn to love yourself. Why is it that you do not accept everything about yourself? What you dream and express constructs your world. How will that evolve?
In your personality and behaviour, you are telling people how you think and what you believe. Each person is born with a degree of invisible, personal power. This is strengthened or drained based on how you listen to or ignore your authentic views. You also evolve to conditon yourself to believe ideas that go against your deepest self.
Each time you listen to yourself, you value yourself and you move away from pretending. Each time you ignore how you truly feel, or each time you choose to speak against what you are thinking, this is pretending what you are not. When yo utell yourself you are what other people tell you that you are, this is also pretending. Are you for real?

You have hit on something significant. We are such a world of great pretenders and illusionists. It is no wonder any of us can look into the mirror these days. The only way to combat this is to look within and not compare ourselves with others. We are all on different paths designed just for us.
