Re-interpret the alarm

Analysis of the week on dream submitted by T.S. of Torquay, Australia.

Dream : I awoke in hospital and struggled to breathe. I was told I had been admitted to the casualty floor. Suddenly, my heart beat faster and faster. I also began to hyperventilate. I signaled with the red buzzer above my hand and an unsympathetic nurse approached my bed. She threatened to bring the whole trauma team in to jump on me, and even to break some ribs and injure me to get my heart going again if it stopped. Her face convinced me she was completely serious. I became afraid.

Predominant feelings : fear, stress, anxiety, imbalance, panic

Interpretation : Recognize that your feelings are combinations of natural and conditioned response to what you think is happening around you.  You project everything and choose what you perceive.  Nightmares enable your unconscious to draw attention to issues you ignore or avoid. Dream images you create reframe the sources of your distress and present them in ways that urge you to deal with them.

Since you perceive yourself to be a casualty, you recognize you feel drained. The next question would be, ‘because of what?’ Ask yourself logically when you may worry for no reason and why. Is this a harmless stunt you pull for attention? Holding up your hand is a silent protest. You sound your internal alarm as reason to stop. Why threaten yourself with violence? Heed warnings.  Listen to your vibrations.

The healthcare setting reflects a strong inner need for healing and possible change of patterns. It should be no shock you seek to improve your physical and mental well-being. In fact, you may have traumatized yourself at soul-level. You signal you’re through with holding yourself back. Your impulse is to get into the flow of the life you would prefer to lead. If you seek domestic bliss and peace, maybe you refuse to believe what you desire is right in front of you. Since you awaken in an unfamiliar bed, this symbolizes the consequence of past decisions. As the saying goes, “you made your bed, now lie in it!” Alternatively, why not change beds and your mindset?

Nurses tend to represent compassion, so the lack reflects what you're missing. Take heart. You may need to show more compassion in a situation or to someone and think less of yourself. As the result, more compassion will be channelled your way. Ribs represent the actions you can take to support and strengthen a sense of stability.  Time to get proactive.  The sooner you get to it, the less painful it will be.
