Timely lyrics
During times of trouble, uncertainty or need, people will say that songs with timely lyrics begin to play on the radio. Something beyond you may be reaching out to let you know you're not alone. Recently, the following song I'd never heard before played on the radio and startled me out of a daydream. It was another example that something beyond coincidence 'just knows things,' and can give greater meaning to our existence. What we notice, how we react, and the choices we make, depend on how ready we are to move forward to redefine success and defeat.
Angel
lyrics by Sarah McLaughlin
Spend all your time waiting
for that second chance
for a break that would make it okay
there's always some reason
to feel not good enough
and it's hard at the end of the day
I need some distraction
oh beautiful release
memories seep from my veins
let me be empty
oh and weightless then maybe
I'll find some peace tonight
In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you feel
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
So tired of the straight line
and everywhere you turn
there's vultures and thieves at your back
the storm keeps on twisting
you keep on building the lies
that you make up for all that you lack
it don't make no difference
escaping one last time
it's easier to believe
in this sweet madness oh
this glorious sadness that brings me to my knees
In the arms of the angel
fly away from here
from this dark cold hotel room
and the endlessness that you feel
you are pulled from the wreckage
of your silent reverie
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here
you're in the arms of the angel
may you find some comfort here

Jus a thought.
What you describe is indeed one interpretation of the song. Other thought-provoking discussions of this Mclaughlin song have focused on the healing powers of angels and Higher Forces that have been known to assist people to lift themselves out of a state of apparent despair. Another way to look at it is like a heavenly invitation to rethink past choices, to realize you exert power over your own free will and the directions of the rest of your life.
