Take the Color Career Test

Ronni Ann Hall drew my attention to a fantastic color career quiz on another site.  This specific personality assessment asks you some questions and churns out an emotional reading that could assist you in narrowing your areas of interest.  This quiz relates to the previous post on my blog called, "Sharpen your senses."  These kinds of tools can be used  to help you better know yourself and focus on more stimulating pursuits.

Aloha, Liara...

An interesting test; I wonder how much of it is derived from Jungian theory and the MBTI. That is, I wonder how many other INTPs would also have a *green* personality, as I apparently do. One issue that I would be interested in exploring is if there is a relationship between the personality content and the symbology of the colors, which, curiously, is not directly mentioned. ...at least in the free content on the page. The description does correspond to my own self image quite well. :)

Hi Brian, thanks for your keen input! Based on your knowledge, background or interest in psychology, and which connections you desire to see, its possible to link this color test with other philosophies. Correlations could indeed be made with Meyers-Briggs and standard personality tests. However, not everyone who takes those tests clearly fits into only one category or feels the assessment reflects who they think they are. This color test may reinforce what you already intuit about yourslef or open your mind to ideas you hadn't considered before.

In terms of symbology of colors, intepretations may change how you view your results. Colors are perceived as positive or negative as per cultural and emotional meanings, religious connotations, views of chakras and other ideas. Personal experience adds additional layers of meaning. One example of interpretations is found on this website: http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html

Thank you, Liara...

I do think the meaning of color is extremely context-dependent: You can feel "blue" at work, but on vacation, ocean blue can be extraordinarily calming. I do not deny that there can be *universal* meaning behind color and other symbols, but pulling it apart from some of the more immediate influences that you've mentioned can be extremely difficult...especially in the waking world, I would think.

Your point is well taken, Brian. Colors will have traditional meanings based on culture, experience and associations with perception. Yet, since you are an evolving being, your understanding of color will also shift and evolve with you.
