How often have you felt as though things are not unfolding as you had imagined? You may have read about the law of attraction yet, your life experience has not proven to you that you get what you think about. Think again! Inverse what seems upside down.
In Neal Donald Walsch's book, Happier than God, he reminds human beings of a simple thing: opposites attract. How does this apply to your life? Well, if your current mindset or conditions are not what you think you desire, then you begin to realize you have to think about what evokes discomfort in order to evolve to another place.
This is not to say that you must experience what you do not want as some kind of penance to work toward what you do. Such cultural ideas are conditioned. Punishment or suffering have no relevance to the underlying reality. If you have two magnets, to draw the positive force toward you, you require a negative force to balance it out.
Similarly, you may have been telling yourself to make different life choices, to slow down, take better care of yourself, but you keep putting this off. Then, when your health suffers, you may say, 'this is not what I asked for!' or 'I am getting to those changes.' Your conscious awareness is not on the same wavelength as other parts of you.
And yet, what you asked for is already on the way. You go through a process to create the life you desire. To draw your attention to what matters, your physical and emotional body go to great lengths to motivate you to do what you choose to do. Every choice you make is a step toward alignment on energy levels you do not yet consciously grasp.
