Late in 2007, I was contacted via email by a school friend of my sister's. He was looking to get in touch with her again. Funny thing was, I had attended elementary school with his sister. She and I had been great friends. The email from this guy I had not heard from in years prompted me to reconnect with my own school friend after twenty-six years.
Sharing a picnic lunch in a park with her was like going back in time. We rekindled our friendship and have been in touch since even though we live in different cities. Such a relationship reminds me how priceless people are in our lives. You just never know how long you have or how meaningful a particular relationship may turn out to be.
This girlfriend generously provided much of my wedding photography. She was especially on my mind today as I received a startling email from her. Two days ago, her brother was tragically killed in an accident near his work in a foreign country. He was thirty-two.
I send out positive energy and celebrate the life of this young man. He reconnected me with his sister and will always have a special place in my heart. He devoted himself to meaningful causes, including amateur sports. We may have no words to describe the world of the spirit or soulful connections that endure. Every relationship has a purpose.
