The logic of karma appears far beyond general human capacity. We would need to grasp relationships among people in past and present that include individuals during past lives long ago. We each nurture our own karma, and are born in a certain place at a certain time. To a degree then, we also participate in local, national, international and collective karmas. You may ask yourself how you can begin to work in harmony with karma and grasp it for desirable ends:
1) Believe that justice and harmony are inherent. Nature and other forces act to restore disturbed equilibrium. Assume everyone will reap the quality of experience that belongs to him/ her. This touches on relationships, and how you treat people, regardless of how they treat you. Revenge or harbouring hard feelings isn't helpful. It's not up to you to even a perceived score. Laws of nature are in charge.
2) Rejoice at opportunities to learn valued lessons. Nurture compassion and take steps to be of silent help to those around you in greater need. You can learn from other people and how they adapt to their lives. As you genuinely encourage others, you also encourage and assist yourself to grow. We can all discover the hardest passages of life reveal exactly what we yearn to know.
3) Boost confidence in other people. How do we know that the terrible suffering, which may in a sense be worse for the bystander than for the one going through it, is not the very karma that the soul deeply desires? You can never be sure. Support people as they learn to handle challenges. Become concerned with what people can do. Energize their will and creative talent to help bring forth whatever potential they have. This can reflect back in good conscience.
4) Judge not that ye be not judged. All of us weave the elements of our soul. Our choices are connected to everyone everywhere. We intuit connections to whatever we experience of joy or pain. To whom do you relate? Do they become mentors? friends? inspiations? Learning not to judge the situations of others is an intrinsic part of our destiny. Its a question of discipline, empathy, compassion and love.
5)Each emotion and action acts like a mirror. You can decide to be selfish or generous, happy or sad. You can forgive or hold grudges. As you express emotions toward and about people, these emotions will reverberrate. Do you regularly act for your own benefits? for the benefit of family, friends, strangers or a community? Do you cheat people? If so, this is like cheating yourself. Every decision sets in motion a series of consequences, which unfold their effects on us, on other people and on our surroundings. We all get a taste of our own medicine. This helps draw attention to the kind of person we truly are and which lessons we have yet to learn.
